What's New at Egg-Coddlers.COM?

We have been getting many inquiries about whether this site is still actively maintained. Fear Not! Bruce and Rob are still working to keep things moving.

We continue to count on collectors to inform us when you find something new or information that augments (or even contradicts) what we have already posted on the web site. We still have an immense backlog of material to enter, so please be patient if you have sent data to us and it is not here yet.

• I don't think it is necessary to mention that this "What's New?" page is not updated as often as the web site content. The web site has been moved to a bigger and faster web server. Data updates are being created and merged to the new site.
• The "Bulletin Boards" have been disabled. This will be a temporary change, hopefully. The free version of Ultimate Bulletin Board no longer will serve our needs, and I don't like to run an ancient piece of freeware. We will be looking for a replacement at some date in the future.
• New patterns added in: Adams.

• Brought the site up on a new instance of Apache. This fixed a few things which were broken on the old site (searches, the bulletin board, all cgi-bin scripts ... little things like that). If you are an avid follower of this log, you'll see that I've had very few cycles to dedicate to the web site recently. I have a plethora of images and data to load up, hopefully in the next few weekends.

• We learned that the name of the pattern we had labelled RW-UNK40 is Valentine
• Added and updated images and names from a Coalport brochure.

• We learned that the patterns we had labelled RW-UNK12, RW-UNK20, and RW-UNK47 are all variants of a pattern that Royal Worcester called Louise. (We are calling it (Old) Louise on the site to differentiate it from a pattern which succeeded it, also named Louise).

Yeah, yeah, yeah .... I've been remiss in updating this section. Of course, I don't know if anyone has even looked at this page yet.

With the exception of Syracuse, which is still in need of a lot of TLC, I believe that we have put in all the primary data from the known manufacturers. We are still one month behind on processing all the new data, and many images are still locked up in Cold Storage awaiting addition to the site.

Probably the greatest accomplishment of the past few months has been the updating of the Wade section, and the UM01 (all-pottery coddler) section.

A significant addition to the bottom of most pages on the web site is a search engine. You can now search the text of this web site for items of interest. The default search is a Boolean "OR" of all the words you provide in the search field.

Sections that were updated/augmented include: Sigma (Taste Setters), CPIAG, and Royal Worcester. Also, several unknown manufacturer sections were added.

Notes

1 - The concept of 'completion' of a comprehensive catalog of egg coddlers is not really definable. There will always be new finds and discoveries in new collections. Certainly, even if we manage to discover every coddler ever made in the past, Royal Worcester and other manufacturers are sure to continue to produce new patterns. However, from the perspective of the site editors, the goal that we are aiming for is "Complete with everything we've learned to date."
