Pyrex Egg Coddlers

 Pyrex has made several different styles of egg coddlers. At least one style is documented on page 28 of the book Pyrex ... the Unauthorized Collector's Guide.

The style designations given below are our own invention for distinguishing between coddlers.

Pyrex Style PY-SSALNC with Stand

PY-SSALNC is a single-sized coddler (2½ inches tall) made of clear glass. The lid is made of aluminum, including the knob. These coddlers were sold in sets of three, with a wire stand to raise and lower the coddlers into boiling water.

PY-SSPLNC is a single-sized coddler made of clear glass. The lid is made of plastic. These were sold in pairs with a metal rack to raise and lower the coddlers into boiling water. The bottom of the coddler is marked PYREX and FRANCE. Each coddler came with a foldout sheet of directions and recipes, titled "L'Oeuf Pyrex". In very small letters, requiring a magnifying glass, the following is printed: D & G, Paris, R.C., Siene 55 B 11600.

PY-DSGLMC is a double-sized coddler made of clear glass. The lid is also made of clear glass. The lid is held to the body of the coddler during cooking with a metal clip. Pyrex called these items French Egg Poachers.
